ALLEGRI: "OUR PERFORMANCE AND ATTITUDE WERE SPOT ON"

Massimiliano Allegri congratulated his team for an assured performance against Sassuolo on Sunday as Juventus secured an important three points in the title race: “There’s still a long way to go and lots of points up for grabs, but we had to win today and we produced a great performance, especially in the second half,” said the Bianconeri coach after the game. “We created lots of chances after the break and could even have got a third.”

It was a third straight win for Juve using their new-look 4-2-3-1 formation, with Allegri confirming that the fans can expect to see more of the system: “I’ll keep using it because it’s going well, but that doesn’t mean we have to give up on other systems. The most important thing is still our attitude.”

Allegri also reserved special praise for Mario Mandzukic: “I’m delighted with his commitment – that goes for those that haven’t played so much too. Mario is technically gifted and it’s a shame he didn’t score because he did have chances. The goals will come for him. What counts is that he keeps playing like he did today – the rest of the team too.”
