Tiemoue Bakayoko has spoken of his delight at joining Napoli in an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss on Thursday.
“I’m delighted to be here in Naples – there’s a fantastic group here and it’s a wonderful city where the lifestyle is lovely,” said Bakayoko.
Bakayoko also revealed the importance of Gennaro Gattuso in his decision to join the Azzurri.
“Gattuso was very important in my decision so I want to thank him for the respect and confidence he showed in me,” said Bakayoko. “I’m here to help him and the team and to do my bit.”
Where do you prefer to play in midfield?
“Anywhere – it’s the coach’s decision. From my perspective, what I care about is helping Napoli to achieve big things. My position is relative. I can adapt and play in either a two- or three-man central midfield.”
What’s the aim at Napoli this season?
“Right now our aim is to win every game we play. We’ll fight and try to stay as high up as possible, but this isn’t the time to think about overall targets. The season has only just begun.”
Are you ready to play on Saturday?
“Obviously I want to play. It’s been a while since I’ve played competitively, but I’m training well and I hope to be ready against Atalanta. It’s up to the coach to weigh up my fitness. We’re up against a good side that is getting some excellent results. It’ll be a very tough match but we want to give 100%.”
