Napoli's coach Gennaro Gattuso spoke in his pre-match press conference the day before the trip to Brescia about the importance of remaining focused on the task at hand.
"Our heads are focused solely on Brescia. We're expecting a very tough game tomorrow. We've already dropped too many points against less fancied teams and we will find ourselves in a trap tomorrow if we don't take to the pitch with full focus."
When asked if there was a risk that his side might be distracted by the upcoming Champions League clash with Barcelona, Gattuso responded, "Absolutely not. I can see how hard the players are working on a daily basis and I don't think anyone has been talking about Barcelona, but only about the game tomorrow. All I'm thinking about today is the most important match, which is always the next one."
"We aren't in a position to allow ourselves to be distracted and with our league standing, we can't take our foot off the gas. We'll be up against a resolute side tomorrow, so we'll have to be ready for a fight and aware how difficult the match will be."
As for Allan's possible involvement in the clash, the coach said, "Allan is a serious professional. We've spoken and he's spoken to the team. He's been training hard and is available. As far as I'm concerned, the matter is closed."
"Brescia are very similar to Cagliari in terms of their style of play. They rely on second balls and fill the box with three or four attacking players. They pass the ball around well and cover plenty of ground. It will certainly be a sporting battle that we'll need to approach with total focus."
The Italian was asked if he sees the glass half full or half empty after recent results, to which he answered, "I can't see the glass at all at the moment. The league table speaks for itself. I'd take a Europa League place today. I expect so much from this squad, but we need to take our hard work from the week into the game. It'll be another important test for us on our path tomorrow."
