The Granata's coach Walter Mazzarri spoke in his post-match press conference following Wolverhampton-Torino 2-1, second leg of the 2019/2020 UEFA Europa League playoff.
“It was a great game, but our fault was not scoring a goal when we had the chance. We were hasty in our finishing, because the statistics all show we were superior on their own turf in terms of possession, territorial coverage and precision. Meite’s chance was practically a penalty and if he’d scored for 2-2 there, we could’ve poured forward in the final minutes. Unfortunately, knowing we were chasing the tie after the first leg made us anxious to score early, even players like Daniele Baselli snatching at the shots. It will help us to grow and mature. Wolves were unbeaten at home since January and I think we did not deserve to lose this evening. They have a lot of quality, but I didn’t see any difference between the teams tonight and the statistics show we were superior too. We lacked experience and perhaps this will help us to mature for the future. Wolves are clinical and a strong team, so let’s not forget we were eliminated by a very good opponent, despite the fact we were at least on a par with them over the two legs, even superior this evening."
