After the 2-1 win against Lazio, at San Paolo stadium, the Azzurris's coach, Carlo Ancelotti, spoke in the post-match press conference. He was full of praise for his players after beating the Biancocelesti, especially those who haven’t been featuring as much and took their chance with open arms: "This win shows the depth that we have in our squad,” the coach began after the game. “I’ve said it from the start that I’ve got loads of players whom I can rely on. It is vital to have such a deep squad when you’re competing on all three fronts."
“Tonight was one of the best performances of the season from Napoli, especially in the first half we played with great tempo and intensity. It was a fantastic display from everybody.”
Fabian Ruiz was one of those players who came into the team and impressed: “He’s an excellent midfielder, the prototype of a modern footballer. He can read the game, copes well under pressure and can play all over the pitch. He imposed himself on proceedings early on but still did well late in the match to track back.”
Arkadiusz Milik has seen a welcome return to his best form under Ancelotti: “I’m pleased for him because he’s always been working hard. He was out on the sidelines for almost two years so he needed a bit of consistency. It was inevitable that we had to be patient with him. We managed him carefully and now the results are showing."
Finally, the head coach was asked whether he thought Juventus could be caught: “For now we’re thinking about our next game against AC Milan. There’s the whole second half of the season to see how things unfold. Something will definitely happen, whatever it is.”
