Gennaro Gattuso responded to Napoli’s 3-1 defeat in Bergamo in the Coppa Italia semi-finals on Wednesday evening: “We reacted well. Another side would’ve conceded four or five goals tonight.
“They were certainly the better team early on. We made mistakes for their goals and found ourselves 2-0 down. We could’ve caved in at that point, but we did well to react and get back into the tie.
“We expressed ourselves in the second half and could’ve even got an equaliser before Atalanta scored their third towards the end. We now need to keep our heads up and look ahead. We have to get some players back, recover well and think about Juventus.”
As for Victor Osimhen’s performance from the start, the coach said, “It’s not easy to be at the top of the game after being out for 94 days. He’s still lacking that sharpness, which is his main asset, but he’s gradually making progress. He’s capable of much more.”
