SPALLETTI: “IT WAS A GOOD TEST BUT WE WASTED CHANCES”

“The test went well, above all because nobody got injured,” explained a content Luciano Spalletti after his side’s 2-2 draw with Turkish side Adana Demirspor. “We faced a team that’s used to battling.”

“We put this fixture in the schedule to move forward with our physical fitness. We didn’t prepare for it like a normal game, of course. In spite of that, we certainly didn’t hold back and we created so much, but we were wasteful in front of goal. We have to take some level of responsibility for the penalties, but in general everything was fine.

“We could’ve done more when we were in possession, but we got nervy at times and didn’t make the best decisions, but the team’s performance was very good.

“I wanted to start [Gianluca] Gaetano straight away, albeit not at centre-back and he responded well. I then sent on Ambrosino at half time to change things up and make him feel the difference.

“I’m pleased about Kim’s arrival because he’s a top player. We’ll have to see how he gets on in Italian football, but having met him today, he certainly showed his willingness and character.”
