Luciano Spalletti described Napoli’s triumph over Torino as a “victory in battle against a very tough side”.
“I was confident and I was right to feel that way because we have players who can always make things happen, so there’s always hope of a goal coming. We had that belief against a battling side.
“[Ivan] Juric always makes it a sporting battle when you’re up against his team. You need to be strong in the tackle and earn possession. We also did well in terms of how competitive we were.
“We must always try to play at this tempo. It won’t be easy, but I saw how much the players battled this evening. [Matteo] Politano and [Lorenzo] Insigne dropped back to provide defensive cover. Quality is important, but it’s also essential to know how to fight. This squad is so committed to the cause.
“We have a compact group of players and friends. We always have to take steps forward, but this evening I was particularly impressed by the sacrifices that the players made, the level of commitment and the way everyone took responsibility.
“As for [Victor] Osimhen, he’s an incredible footballer who’s becoming more and more complete. He works hard for the team and he always knows how to drive his team-mates forward from the front.”
