Torino Football Club is glad to announce that Wednesday August 1st at 21.30 at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino there will be an international friendly against the Brazilians of Chapecoense. The match, which will be shown on La7 and Torino Channel, will award the Sportpesa Cup: in case of a tie after 90' there will be a penalty shoot out.
THE IDEA. Since the moment in which tragedy struck Chapecoense, Torino FC President Urbano Cairo proposed the idea to organize a friendly match between the two teams to help the Brazilian Club rise after the disgrace. That project - started last year in Milan after an encounter with President David Plinio De Nes - is now a reality.
Chapecoense will be the host of Torino, and the proceeds will be given to the Brazilian Club as an aid to reconstruct after the plane crash of November 28, 2016 near the Colombian city of Medellin, in which 71 people lost their lives. Two of the three survivors of the team, Allan Ruschel and Jackson Follmann, will be present for a night of solidarity in which all of the granata fans are welcome.
The event will also be an occasion to donate, also thanks to Granata Store and Basic Italia, with the proceeds coming from the sale of the celebratory kits used in Torino-Atalanta on December 2, 2017 given to the Brazilians.
THE AFFINITY BETWEEN THE TWO CLUBS. In this year and a half Torino never stopped giving its solidarity to the Brazilian Club. There have been frequent contacts between President Cairo and President David Plinio De Nes. In one of these, they had the idea to create a celebratory green kit for Toro in the league: the promise was kept on December 2, 2017 for Torino-Atalanta. It's also important to remember the meeting between the General Manager Comi and the managers of the Brazilian Club last summer, during the press conference the day before Roma - Chapecoense. In the last letter addressed to President Cairo, the President of the Brazilian club announced: "For the union, the power, and the friendship. #SiamotuttiunasolasquadraChape-Torino!”. And it's for this power and this friendship that the two Clubs will face each other on the pitch this August, for a friendly that promises entertainment, but also strong emotions outside of football.
Toro and Chape, united by destiny, forever friends.
A special occasion for all the granata fans to unite the passion for Toro with the friendship we have with Chapecoense. For Belotti and team it will be the first match of the season at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, a few days before the away match in Liverpool and the official debut in Coppa Italia.
