&lt;p&gt;Andrea Petagna is ready for a successful 2023. Finally, the muscle problem is behind him and the season restart is just around the corner. How much do you miss the action?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I`m finally okay and I can`t wait to start again: this year I played the first few games but then I got injured: a muscle problem that prevented me from training for several weeks. Now I`m starting to feel really good, I`m happy and looking forward to 4 January!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Are you satisfied with this first part of the season?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;As a team, definitely. We have had a very good run and are working to reach safety as soon as possible. The first few games were about adapting to Serie A TIM because lots of our squad had never played in the top flight. Then since coach Palladino came in, we have changed gears: he is very organised, we train a lot and we are playing very well. Now we just have to keep going as we are.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;And from a personal point of view?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This first part of the season doesn`t count in my eyes: in the first games I struggled after a year of not many games and had to find my match rhythm, then I got injured. My contribution has been almost zero. I`m happy for the team, much less for myself, but I`m working to perform in the second half of the season.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class=&#34;hm-image-wys&#34;&gt;&lt;img src=&#34;https://img.legaseriea.it/vimages/6399cbd6/19783113_large.jpg&#34; alt=&#34;19783113_large.jpg&#34; style=&#34;display: block; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-bottom: 16px; max-width: 100%; width: auto; pointer-events: none;&#34;&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;I mean, you always have something to prove....&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;By now I am used to it, since leaving AC Milan for Sampdoria, there has always been enormous pressure, everyone expected tonnes of goals. The turning point was in Bergamo, where I also got my first call-up to the national team and then with Spal I scored 17 goals. I always have something to prove, but it`s part of my character. Now I`m desperate to get back because here I haven`t delivered yet. I can`t wait to showcase my qualities and repay the trust of Dr. Galliani and the club!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;By the way...You have a special relationship with him!&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;He copied an inscription onto our lockers, &#34;It took us 110 years to get to Serie A, we can`t go back to Serie B in one year.&#34;&amp;nbsp; He is like that! I met him when I was a kid and he got me to sign my first contracts at AC Milan. We have always been in touch over the years, when Monza were promoted to Serie A TIM I was one of the first to congratulate them, and then when there was a chance of a transfer here, I didn`t have to think twice: Monza are comparable to AC Milan in terms of organization, facilities, and even the stadium is beautiful. And the fans are so kind and passionate.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;What kind of team are you?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;We are young and hungry! The coach is working a lot on our mental game. His arrival was the key turning point: smiles returned to the group and the training sessions changed pace, because from the get-go there was a whole new level of intensity from the coach. And, I have to say, I haven`t worked this hard since Gasperini`s time: we do 10/11 km during training and then of course in the game we go even harder.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Who was your idol as a child? Who do you take inspiration from?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I honestly never had any, but when I arrived at AC Milan when I was 13 years old, Borriello scored a lot, and then Ibra. And Vieri when I was younger.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Your grandfather played for Triestina. Unfortunately, you had very little time to get to know him, but what memories do you have of him? Would he be happy to see you follow in his footsteps?&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;My grandfather was the first person, along with my father, who sparked my passion for the game. He used to tell me to `do the wall` when we played on the playground, to improve my personal technique. How do you concentrate?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Before the game I listen to music up to a minute before I go out to warm up – it relaxes me and helps me concentrate. Then I have a superstition about shin guards: the order in which I wear them changes and it depends on whether I scored a goal in the game before!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Fiorentina await you after the break, what kind of game are you expecting?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It will be a difficult game against a strong team and an organised coach. We`ll have to come in raring to go because we can get a result from it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;What about your former Napoli teammates? Were you surprised by the Azzurri`s departure?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I trained with them in the summer and I was always convinced that Napoli were a very strong team with incredible individual players. We should have won last year, and then this year with Kvaratskhelia they have increased the technical ability even more and hav probably made that leap. And then Morocco, they are the team that surprised me the most.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;If you hadn`t been a football player, what would you have become?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I don`t know, I`ve never thought about it. In my first essays at school, I wrote that when I grew up I would be a football player – there was never a plan B!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;As we approach Christmas, make a wish....
